Wakatū has an Associate Director Scheme that provides owners with the opportunity to gain experience in the governance of Wakatū Incorporation, with a view to them becoming part of our organisation's future leadership.

As our businesses get more advanced, it is vital that future Directors are equipped with the necessary commercial skills as well as an understanding of the history and peoples of Te Tau Ihu.

Associate Directors are appointed for two years – the first year on a Sector Board and the second on the Head Board.

Requirements

The Board looks for applicants with existing or potential business acumen, who are dedicated to contributing towards the ongoing development of Wakatū.

Applicants each year must be shareholders or whānau of shareholders, and their application must include:

  • a completed application form
  • a 500-word statement setting out your reasons for wanting to be an Associate Director and your vision for Wakatū, including how our people may develop themselves.
